An Epic Limerick

The Ballad of Perry & Merry

There once was a young man named Perry,
Who ran from his fair Londonderry,
        Because as you’ll see,
        They found out that he
Had been caught with the Parson’s girl Merry.
You must wonder why this was so scary,
So much so, he didn’t dare tarry,
        For the Parson had seen
        Where his daughter had been,
And insisted the lad marry Merry.
Poor Perry soon learned to be wary,
With the Parson as his adversary,
        After that he soon saw
That to escape the land’s law,
He must flee to old Tipperary.
The moral of this tale should be
Plain for all of you good folks to see,
It’s O.K. to have fun With your favorite one,
But never get caught making Merry!
